He’d said something about fruit. Well, if he was gathering food, she’d get started on the bird. Her cooking was a little different than those she’d seen in the human villages. But then again most people back home didn’t cook like her either. She grinned and knelt by the bird. She touched the feathers and concentrated. Her eyes slowly turned a blazing red and the feathers smoked then fell from the body. Her hands rested inches away from the bird as heat began to rise between them. The heat twisted into thin strings of fire that soon laced through the bird cooking all of it at the same time, and quite quickly. Before long, the creature was cooked enough to eat.
Spindle leaned back and fell on her back with a heavy sigh. It was very different calling upon the elements when they weren’t present as to when they were. Took a lot more out of a person. ‘This should be enough…’, Barrel thought as he ran towards where he had left Spindle. His arms were locked together and his tail was coiled, both were carrying as much fruit as possible. He had spent about 10 minutes collecting it all and lost count around 40.
